Re:8th Arkansas, again, For Bryan, if he is around

Just had another brain storm.
With Shiloh having been fought in April of 1862, J.D. Pearce was wounded and his brother went to pick him up.
On the 4th of July, Pearce sat out walking from Mifflin, Tenn. to catch up with his men.
This information comes from his widow's application.
Where exactly was the 8th Arkansas on the 4th of July, 1862? How great was the distance he walked?
I have a tendency to get stuck on one subject I know but by asking questions is the only way I know
what I do know.
Do you know??
Thanks-Linda
