Sir, since, with my job requirements, I'm unable to go someplace which might actually have the rolls for Clarkson's/Buster's Bn, I've been trying to create a roster from Clark's Mo Inf(using the microfilmed CSR's at Mid-Continent Library in Independence,Mo and at Mo State Historical Society on UM campus in Columbia). Now, we may disagree, but the 9th and Clark's were 2 seperate units per se-In Sep 63, after the 4 former companies of Clarkson's old bn were detached, along with LTC Buster, to form the 15th Ark Cav, Musser's Mo Inf Bn were added to the remaining companies of Clark's rgt to form the new 9th Mo Rgt. Thus, I've only been going through Clark's Rgt CSR's at present-in future, I'll go through those of 9th Mo.
I seriousily doubt LTC Buster kept seperate musters for those 4 companies within Clark's Rgt-the one reason I've seen given for their detachment, and Musser's Bn companies replacing them is the former companies of Clarkson's Bn were "Arkansas" companies(I haven't went through 1860 Ark census yet to discover exactly how many were actually residents of Ark, but the vast majority were enlisted in Ark(this could also mean they were displaced Missourians who MSG units were mustered out after Pea Ridge))
So basically, as CSR's are concerned, you'd find those casualties within Clark's Mo Inf rolls, not the 9th Mo Inf(why at times Clark's Mo Inf was called 9th prior to above reorg I honestly don't know).
I'll keep in mind your comment concerning the AWOLs and desertions-it's probably a case of both.
One question-do you have any info concerning CPT William H Doak(when Clarkson's Bn consolidated in Nov 62 to help form Clark's Mo Inf, he vanishes)?
