I need help please with Thomas Cox, Batesville lawyer and husband of Laura Erwin Cox. I have tried every way I know to find records on him. I did find the Hussey Manuscript online which has a great genealogical sketch on the couple and a copy of the excellent letter Laura wrote about her "flight from Little Rock" on Sept. 10, 1863.

The article also mentions this single document:

"One military record states that Major William G. King of Tyler, Texas while Brigade Quartermaster in Little Rock, Arkansas in 1862 issued supplies to the area officers. One of the officers supplied was Captain Thomas Cox stationed at Camp Nelson, Arkansas. He received $7,425 in supplies November 1, 1862, according to the bulletin of South Texas Genealogical Historical Society in an article submitted by Mrs. Milton Woods."

Where might I be able to find more on him in official records? I have another unpublished letter of Laura's that I am transcribing written about the same time to her friend Emily Weaver that serves as a companion piece to the first letter.
