Many thanks. You have certainly filled in the blanks for me, and I will do a better job of identifying the folks mentioned in the letter now. I couldn't find Dr. Peyton anywhere. I am working on identifying the people in three letters now - all from Sept. 1863. This one from Laura Cox concerning the Little Rock retreat, one from Maj. Henry Ewing and another from Emily's brother, Lt. Robert Weaver, both mention the Marmaduke-Walker duel. Thanks again for your extensive help.
