As usual, Geoff had provided you with with very good information regarding your grandfather's Enfield.

The only thing I could add is that regarding the name "Fraser" you mentioned was stamped in the wood -- the only reference I can find in the literature thus far to a Birmingham gun maker by that name/spelling is a John Fraser (1845-1849), a gun lock maker with a shop at 66 Loveday St.
