In Response To: 2nd Georgia Sharpshooters ()

Melanie- I am completing research for a book to be published in February that will give the complete unit history of the 2nd Ga Infantry regiment. It was comprised of several companies organized in the August-Macon Georgia area including the Burke Sharpshooters and the Jackson Blues, which I believe you are inquiring about. This Regiment was organized in April 1861 at Tybee Island Ga. and went to Virginia in the fall of 1861. It was part of the 15th Brigade, commanded by Toombs and later Benning, and was in Longstreet
's corps. They fought throughout the civil war until surrender at Apppomattox. I will send you a copy of my book when published if you wish. In the meantime, the best source for information is a book entitled Burnside's Bridge by Phillip Tucker. I's like to hear from you Thanks Mikell Harper
