I know most of the information provided here was what I found in the many sources I checked into. But, again, does anyone know for sure if they were actually at Lawrence? The book "Financial Fraud and Guerrilla Violence in Missouri, 1861-1865" by Mark Geiger claims that "three boys from the indebted households" (referring to Thomas, James and Martin)were with Dave Poole at Lawrence. Sources from the Missouri Provost Marshal records have Tom and Jim Warren identified in the "Marcella" capture, the German settlement raid of July 1863 and something that had a John Wilson VS. Thomas Payne where the Warrens were identified as bushwhackers. Also, a man under the moniker "jrbakerjr" has a very informative website of his family genealogy and a lot of border war / guerrilla info. HIS site also says the Warrens were at Lawrence.

Now...jrbakerjr told me his source came from the above mentioned book. I actually emailed Geiger and got a response. He says that HIS source came from Don Hale's "Branded As Rebels I & II", but......there is nothing in either Branded that says they were at Lawrence. Just the German settlement raid.

So how did Geiger and jrbakerjr have that the Warrens were at Lawrence??? I didnt know if there is another source somewhere or I am just missing something. I turned page after page of Lafayette County Missouri history books and the Warrens are barely mentioned. I found Tom and Jim Warren in the "Western Journal Daily Commerce" (sorry if I have that wrong, but I imagine you know what paper I mean) and THAT article was about the German raid.

Does ANYone know if the Warren brothers were actually at Lawrence. I would say they probably were, but we all know from our experience that you never say "probably!"
