Yeah, Bruce...I agree with your points. But the flip side to all of that is that there is so MANY men that said that they were at Lawrence or Baxter Springs, etc. and rode the coattails of Quantrill, it's hard sometimes to even say "possibly" or "probably." Don Hale told me that there is always that kinda "set" number of actual Quantrill men (Jarrette, Anderson, Todd, etc.) that might add up to 200 or so men. But...then there up to may 900 to 1,000 men that "rode" with Quantrill. Not UNDER Quantrill, but WITH. He told me that some men might not have been actually a guerrilla, but might have had a vendetta with a location and an individual decided to ride with Quantrill for one event and then he's gone.

Seems "being at Lawrence" is the same way! Even though 300 or 400 were actually AT Lawrence, it's dangerous to say "probably" or "maybe" because so many men have said they WERE at Lawrence. So it's like 300 were there, but 1,000 have SAID they were there.

I have drove myself bonkers trying my best to cement something and get it pinpointed for just that reason! I know it's almost impossible to do, but I study and research until I am about to go cuss a blue streak in an open pasture somewhere!
