Okay. Here we go...the reason I'm interested in these people, beyond my interest in the Civil War in Missouri in general, is that my 3rd great grandmother, Mary "Polly" Chilton, was a member of this family, and yes, you could say they had southern sympathies. The state senator, Joshua Chilton, killed on the road to Salem, was perhaps the most well known member of the family. Perhaps the most notorious was Alex Chilton, who was mistakenly reported as also having been killed but who, in fact, escaped.

George Martin, in his reply, supplied you with the 1860 Federal census and this census entry does include the family of the slain Joshua Chilton however he was obviously still alive at the time.

The first reply, posted falsely in my name, does state correctly that the location of the mill which you are looking for was on the banks of the Jack's Fork tributary of Current River, not far from the confluence of these two rivers. The other two mills near Van Buren which were mentioned by Kirby Ross in his reply were owned by distant relatives and not the mills you are looking for. There were many Chiltons in the area, to say the least, and quite a few had mills but the fact is that the one you are interested in was at the confluence of the Jack's Fork and Current River, near Eminence in Shannon County. My imposter's information on Eminence is also correct.
