In Response To: Re: Chilton's Mill & Clan ()

The Chilton home at Owl's Bend was built by Francis Marion (Frank) Chilton who was born in 1827 to Thomas Boggs Chilton. His brother was Joshua Chilton, the senator who was killed and who was one of the original subjects of this thread. On September 1, 1859 Francis recieved a grant of 189.52 acres on the west bank of the Current River, at the bend known as Owl's Bend. It's six miles downstream from the Current's confluence with Jack's Fork. If you travel west on highway 106 from Ellington in Reynolds County toward Eminence in Shannon County you will cross the river right at Owl's Bend. You cannot, however, see the homestead in it's entirety from the road, particularly not the buildings. The buildings are along the old Powder Mill Road.
