Re: William Hocker Long

William Hocker Long born to Reuben Long and Nancy Hocker, cousin to Joel Long above, brother to Reuben "Rube" Long who was in Poindexter's Cav as a guerrilla.

Wm H Long had a longstanding farm in Franklin twsp Howard county, this is west of the Turner BLM land grant. I've not tied down the exact location. Hopefully something will pop with one of his neighbors. In any case, if this is the William H Long referred to, then this skirmish was a running gun battle over 2-3 miles or more.

Daddy Reuben was a slave owner living in the Richmond, MO area from at least 1830. So I still have a problem with actually pinpointing the farm location. Short of doing a title hunt in Fayette I am not sure I can nail the location of this farm. We need some local input!
