William Eggleston, 18 MISS

William Eggleston of Lexington enl in the 18 Miss at Jackson in Mar 1862. He served with that unit (details not available to me) until he transferred by exchange to A/Hampton legion Mounted Infantry in Nov 64; he is shown as present on the Nov-Dec 64 muster roll, the last one existant; he is not shown on the Appomattox parole lists, nor does CSR show a parole elsewhere (unless he was paroled under the designator 18 MISS). I know that he is buried in the Lexington Municipal Cemetery, born 7 Jul 43, d. 22 Apr 09. I know nothing about his service with the 18 MISS, nor of his background and occupation postwar. I suspect that he transferred because he could provide a mount, and that Moses Pearson, with whom he transferred, could not. He appears to have no connection to South Carolina. Any information appreciated. Info on Pearson to follow.
