W. Eggleston's name is listed in the History of the Burt Rifles, in the Military Annals of Mississippi by J. C. Rietti. The notation states, "In two actions. Transf to Hamptons Legion 64, Pro 1st Lieut P A C S Jan '65." The Burt Rifles became company "K" of the 18th Mississippi.
