I keep finding interesting things in her book. This page shows that she mentions the name "Ivison Batcheler".
You know she and her son told the Confederate Museum that the PCA flag was taken from a Confederate soldier named "Ives Batcheler". I can't find any Louisiana soldier with that name and there was not a Batcheler in the PCA. Interestingly her son's middle name is Ives, thus there may have been a communication problem. That's a fairly unique name.
Records say there were two sentinals guarding the Upper Battery (a/k/a Battery No. 1 at Island No. 10) and when the 50 Union soldiers raided the battery the sentinals or guards fired one shot each and fled. As you know the Upper Battery was under water several feet and not a one of the PCA members were there as the plan was to leave the Upper Battery when and if underwater. We may be able to find out which regiment the guards were with but this will probably be difficult.
