{calling one's country the United States of America is truly arrogant and insulting to all the other "American" states on the two continents which are not included in the United States.}
Now this I can not agree with and for this reason;
When Canada and Mexico formed they formed as a Country subdividing certatain regions into States such as it was done in Europe. Note* Individual Country Creating States within itself*
The United States was not created as such individual States first signed the Articles of Confederation to create a Federal Government to conduct business and provide security to the group as a whole. The States retained all individuality as a Governing power unto itself. To simplfy the held more power than the Federal Government.
They then created and signed, after many months of haggling wrangling and areemement that the Individual State held more power than the Federal Government, a Constitution for the Federal Governments and the States.
So to say The "United" States, is saying the many Individual States of America. United States simplify the meaning.
It is not arrogant nor insulting, unless the one who takes issue with the name, does not understand the name.
