Re: Stowing the P1853 Enfield "Tool"

Well, my thinking is that the haversack was the only logical place to stow it; wouldn't fit in most cartridge boxes and CS troops didn't universally carry knapsacks and didn't carry them at all into combat. Just looking for anything authoritative about the tool, its use, and where it might have been carried.
