It seems that a lot of people use Wikipedia. That is ok as long as it is a starting point and not the end. A lot of what is there has links to websites as the source material.
I am speaking from experience. I started researching one AR soldier and found him on a website that I still believe to be the best on the net. However, there was a typo. I was on a wild goose chase for 2 years because of that typo. The sad part is that I had his records, but I kept seeing that 8 on the website instead of 3 that is on the records. Now I am researching 57 men that are on that site, and I have found another typo for one of the others. I sent an email about the first typo, but have had no response.
Ancestry.com has my grandfather as being 73 in 1930 when he was actually 32.
Everyone makes mistakes.
