Re: Is "reparations" for slavery a Civil War topic

"You can present all the facts and figures and correspondence to justify your point of view and all the Unionist have to say to trump those arguments is, "well it was all about slavery anyway".

Exactly and when evidence is presented to show otherwise they tuck tail and hide. I guess you and I will be labeled a fanatic or an idiot or just condemned like Mr. Brothers because we have a different point of view. So be it!!! Oh well to date not one person has come forward and presented any real evidence that the war was all about slavery.

As you know the House of Representatives just make an apology for slavery, this was in the original wording-----

http://www.govtrack.us/congress/billtext.xpd?bill=hr110-194

"Whereas slavery was not officially abolished until the passage of the 13th Amendment to the United States Constitution in 1865 after the end of the Civil War, which was fought over the slavery issue;"

When the bill was engrossed in House it was changed to ---

"Whereas slavery was not officially abolished until the passage of the 13th Amendment to the United States Constitution in 1865 after the end of the Civil War;"
