Ain't that the truth. What about all those "Losted" muster rolls records we can't find in Arkansas after Feb. 1864. Names on monuments that were placed by veterans that there are no records for. Records of hospitals that were old wives tales and no one knew even existed 20 years ago. Lost early regimental histories and records that were destroyed, or yet to be found, when they surrendered at Arkansas Post. Individual records that were lost when regiments were assigned to different brigades. Confederate records that found their way to Union Adjuntants Generals reports.
I've seen all of this and you know it. Not Comprehensive indeed is an understatement. Just because a persons name doesn't appear in the CSR's doesn't mean he didn't serve. It just means that there is not a surviving record.
