Re: Confederate Blacks in the War

I guess one can only wonder what would have happened if Cleburne's proposal had been implemented earlier in the war. It would have the Confederacy an additional 200-300 regiments. Would the conscripted slaves have fought well, with eventual freedom as their reward? What would the Northern reaction have been to hundreds of thousands of slaves fighting against their supposed "emancipators"?
