I agree with both responses. I want to see what I posters who support the Union have to say about this. I would especially like to hear from the “two great minds” on this board. I want to see them justify Lincoln preparations for war when there were no need before or after Sumter. As I said they hang their hat on Chase's decision to justify their illegal actions. Reminds me of the deputy who only had one bullet-------.

Lincoln did not seek a legal means to resolve the issue when one half of the Southern states was still in the Union and the possibility of avoiding war was still real.
