I understand why you say this but think you miss the point a bit.

Let say I say I love my wife more than anyone or anything, but spend more time after work with the boys playing pool. Which speaks louder, my actions or my words? Are my priorities in line with my words?
The War of course was fought for Southern Independence, no question, but if in the long run maintaining slavery cost the CSA the victory, where was their true heart?
