A couple of minor points --

Gens. Breckinridge and Vaughn didn't remain in East Tennessee during the spring of 1864. Both led Confederate forces that ejected Federal arsonists from the Shenandoah Valley, crossed the Potomac into Maryland and accompanied Gen. Early on a tour of the District of Columbia. Beckinridge and Vaughn returned to southwestern Virginia and east Tennessee in mid-October of 1864.

Under the somewhat unusual circumstances srrounding his death, it's hard to simply say that John Hunt Morgan was killed.

Finally, of course, these people were rebels in the same sense that George Washington, the Continental army and Colonial militia were rebels.
