Re: 24th Texas Cavalry burials, Camp Butler, Illin

Scott:

This is quite a list! You certainly are to be commended for your efforts.

I have profiled all known members of Company B of the 24th and of the Danville Mounted Riflemen, 17th Brigade Texas State Troops, which folded into the 2nd Texas Lancers (later the 24th Texas Cavalry Dismounted). I have posted photos of their cemetery markers, when available, on their biography pages. Finding and photographing all their stones could be a lifetime project. And of course, many are buried in mass graves with no markers, far away from home.

Obviously, many descendants of these families never knew where their uncles and cousins were buried and will never have the option of traveling to the final resting place of these brave men--mostly boys, actually.

If anyone is interested in the four men of Company B whom Scott lists above, you may find links to their biographies on my history page.
