John,
Did you ever wonder what would have happened if the 6th would have hit Holley Springs one hour sooner and captured or killed Grant?
You are on the mark about the movie! Great action, escape of Grant, capture of Mrs Grant, and blowing up the supplies etc. sure would look good on the big screen.
I think it would be fun to get a group of kin folks of the men of the 6th and do a reunion type thing at Holley Springs and compare notes, stories etc.
Here are some other books to check out.
Living & Fighting with the Texas 6th Cavalry by Newton A. Keen
Personal Civil War Letters of General Lawrence Sullivan Ross (Only 500 copies printed) by Shelly Morrison
The Third Texas Cavalry in the Civil War by Douglas Hale
Fighting With Ross' Texas Cavalry Brigade C.S.A. by Homer L. Kerr (9th TX.)
The Diary of George L. Griscom,Adjuant, 9th Texas Cavalry Regiment
John do you live anywhere near Dallas Texas?
Thanks,
Gary D. Bray
