Gary,
The whole story is fascinating, not many people know that this was the first time a cavalry had been used in an offensive manner and to score such a hit, it is amazing that it hasn't been told more.

The town of Holly Springs has a reenactment in April or May and they have a large event in December.

When my late uncle started researching J.A. Wagner and his exploites with the Rangers and the CSA we found out about the Georgia campains low and behold my family lived about 6 miles from New Hope Church, a very hard fought battle near Atlanta I now live in Tuscumbia, AL where the 6th came through running raids up into TN. Strange but true, I don't know if I'm following him or he's following me!

My fathers family lived in Cross Plains, J.A. is buried there. I have alot of records, reports on the 6th that I would be glad to share.

This is a wonderful web site I'm happy I found.

Thak You,
John Wagner
