I don't believe that there were any Texas troops operating north of the Red River in April of 1864. The only troops north of the river, were a small brigade of Louisiana cavalry commanded by Col. Isaac Harrison. See GUIDE TO LOUISIANA CONFEDERATE MILITARY UNITS by Arthur W. Bergeron from the LSU Press. Bergeron's book says that Harrison's Brigade was attacked at their canp near St. Maurice on Bayou Des Cedars on April 17th, 1864.
