My gr-great grandfather was the Sgt Christopher Columbus Neal who "died of disease" at the hospital in Marksville, LA March 2, 1863 according to US Archives records. I've been unable to locate any grave site for him or the others who died around the same time. The historians and Historical Soc over in Marksville have no idea what happened to those who died or even exactly where the hospital was.

CC's wife Rhoda (South) Neal died in 1866 time frame in either Hopkins or Hunt County and I've also been unable to find her grave. CC's father Benj Neal raised all the children to adulthood ... Thomas Jefferson, Mary Jane, Wm. King, Henry Smith. The Neal family still owns some of the orig headright granted c. 1848 to Ben Neal in Lone Oak area and holds a reunion there every year. Many of the Neal orig settlers are buried in Hookers Ridge Cemetery in Lone Oak.
