Yes... and after the war as well. The information in the letters to the interim editor contain information that would suggest the person was at least on the regimental staff -- the average soldier wouldn't know some of the details that show up consistently in the letters. I've always been told they were written by DeMorse but I've never seen that DeMorse or anyone else confirmed that.
