To: B.Gen. Shelby Commanding Cav. Dist. of Ark.
The commanding Gen. want a detail sent to Texas to gather beeves in Red River, Lamar and Hopkins Counties. He requested 1,000 head. for starters.

If this went on for any length of time they could have went as far west as Palo Pinto county.
