First, I want to express my gratitude to David L. Haimerl of Stover MO who transcribed these Wells Battn. records from the National Archives microfilm and posted them from April 10, 2006 until June 2, 2006 on the Texas message board.

Bryan, John H.: A Pvt in Co ’A’/Good’s Battn. May 64 return states furloughed by order of Gen. McCulloch to harvest from 28 May-?. A SGT in Co ’K’/Wells’ Regt per a certificate of discharge: enlisted at Paris, TX, by Capt Williams on Dec 13, 63 for the war; born in Lamar Co TX; age 19; 6’ tall; fair complex.; gray eyes; light hair; states unfit for duty 641(?) days and has ‘had several attacks of crazy fits since he has been in my company and I recommend his discharge” (signed by Capt John Daniel at Camp Ryan on Aug 24, 64). ..Sgt Bryan was discharged Oct 27, 64 at Bonham, TX.

Daniel, John N.: 2nd Lt (May & Jul 64 returns) & Capt(Aug 64 return) of Co ’A’/Good’s Bn. CPT of Co’K’/Wells’ Regt. Apr 65 muster states absent by order Genl. Feb 4, 65.

Killingsworth, Thomas: A PVT in Co’A’/Good’s Bn. May 64 return states furloughed to harvest by order of BG McCulloch from 28 May-25 Jun 64. Jul 64 return lists him as absent sick. A 9 Aug 64 affidavit from his mother Elizabeth in Lamar Co., TX: “I Elizabeth Killingsworth solemnly swear that I am the mother of Thomas Killingsworth a private in Captain Williams now Capt Daniels company Col Goods Battalion that he joined the army against my will and without my consent that he was born on the 26th day of February 1848 day and date on hand in my family Bible Elizabeth Killingsworth”. Soldier’s name also appears as Killingsmith.

Tidwell, Dallas. .served from 1863 - June, 1865 in Co. A, Good's Battalion, John Daniel's Company after enlisting in Lamar Co. TX. Tombstone had CW information on it. He (or his wife?) is on the Indigent Families in Lamar County, Texas list: "Tidwell, Dallas, 1 in the family, taken on 22 Feb 1865". His completed Confederate Pension Application was approved in 1908. Four (maybe six) of his brothers were also enlisted in CSA.

Good, Chaplin: Attended but didn’t graduate from West Point (1852-6). Appt. Aide-de-Camp (as Lt-Colonel) for Brig-Gen M.M. Parsons’ 6th Division, Missouri State Guard. Received recruiting authority, per SO#176, Paragraph II, HQ Trans-Mississippi Dept., for 60 days to raise a Mo Cav Co. north of Arkansas River, and if possible a battalion of cavalry. COLONEL of Good’s Tx Cav Battn, Lt-Colonel of Wells’ Regt. ..In a Dec 3, 64 letter requests a commission in the P.A.C.S. and states received his education at West Point which he entered in 1852 and resigned in 1856; and currently has a Texas commission but as of yet hasn’t received one in P.A.C.S. ..Present at Apr 65 muster.

Wells, John W.: Born Sep 31 [__year___] in VA to Richard and Jane (Carson) Wells. 1850 Census living w/ his folks in Frederick Co VA. In 1861 enlisted in Capt. Holland’s Panola County TX Company, and then served in Co’K’/1st C & C Rgt. Capt and AAG of Colonel D.H. Cooper’s Indian Brigade. Mar 7, 63, Col. Cooper wrote a letter to President Jefferson Davis recommending Capt Wells be appointed Colonel, so he could command a mixed corps of Texas and Indian troops to operate west of Ft Arbuckle and the Seminole Agency. ..Colonel of Wells’ Rgt. Married Ora Birdsong. ..Postwar career as a physician. ..Died in 1917 and buried in Oakwood Cem., Jacksboro, TX. ... Mr. Bruce Allardice believes his real name was "Jared Williams."
