My G-G-grand uncle was also hospitalized at Charlottesville, on Nov,17 1862. He had been wounded and was sent to a General Hosp. in Guyton, GA on July.17 1862 , but then was sent on to C-ville where he died of pneumonia on Nov. 20th. 1862. He is buried there, supposedly at the Confederate Cemetary in C-ville, but I have been unable to locate a grave marker there for him or any details concerning a grave site or even his name. If you or anyone has data on the men buried there or even better a list on men buried there I would appreciate your help.
Was your ancestor a sharpshooter or just a leg like Private John Thrift? I was also sent to Charlottesville for further medical treatment after encounterering a pointed, fast moving projectile. I went to Walter Reed Army Hospital first, and was transferred to C-ville, just like my G-G-grand uncle was. Only I managed to live. :)
