Tom, here's another more generic. Written by Gabriel C. Fox, C/50th Va. on 3 August 1863, to Mr. W.L. Spracher in Tazewell Co.

I tell you of some of the finest Girls that you ever sean if you should wish to mary you will find them in the valey of va[.] tha are dutch girls and tha live at home and court at the windowze[.] while I was in PA I sean some of the finest land I ever sean[.] farmes look as well thar as tha cold before the ware commenced[.] everthing looks fine[.] in MD was the finest crops you ever sean[.] hit looks like tha cold supplie the north hit self[.] the union pepel dident denie that principal when we as thar[.] that would hold up for the union[.] we got our suplies all in thare while we stade and thousands of beef catel and just as meny horses as we wanted and the largest and finest you ever sean[.] while we was over thare we got plenty of aple buter and lite bread al we cold eat.
