The Moore Family correspondence at the Rosenbach Library in Philadelphia describes losses sustained by an Uncle (Hugh) to Jenny Craig. Uncle Hugh lived in Shippensburg. Ewell's men camped on his property, and left with all of his sheep, six head of cattle, hams, some feed, a wagon, saddle, whip, and combs - about $400 worth of property, which they paid for in Confederate money. They also took over $500 worth of goods from a store in town run by a man named Nixon. Jenny rode out the invasion in Harrisburg. Other relatives lived in Chambersburg and Mercersburg. Uncle Hugh writes on 21 June that the rebels arrived in town about 11:30 [a.m?] [date?] and stayed for 36 hours.
