The Yankee Invasion of West Alabama
In Response To: Re: 24th MS Cavalry Battalion ()

While searching for family records in the Alabama Room of the University of West Alabama, we found a small book (88 pages)entitled "The Yankee Invasion of West Alabama, March-April, 1865 - Including The Battle of Trion (Vance), The Battle of Tuscaloosa, The Burning of the University of Alabama, and The Battle of Romulus" prepared by William Stanley Hoole and Elizabeth Hoole McArthur and published in 1985 by the Confederate Publishing Co. PO Box 1712, University, Alabama 35486.
It appears to be well researched and documented.
The introduction sates that it was inspired by the recent(1984)excavation of the 157 year old Rotunda (housing the Library) of the University of Alabama which was destroyed by federal troops, April 4, 1865.
