These are similar figures to the ordnance report that appears in NARA CSR's of the 10th Alabama Cavalry under the name M. H. Key. On July 2, 1864, the regiment requested 150 Enfields. On hand were 67 unserviceable muskets, 25 Enfield rifles, 16 Springfields, 41 Austrians, 4 cal. 52 carbines, 13 Army colts, 9 Navy colts, with no cartridges available for the latter. The report concludes with the comment that the command lacks 211 Enfields.

Based on the numbers and distribution, one might conclude that only officers carried pistols in these regiments.
