All the ordnance reports I've seen pretty much mirror each other, with the numbers of specific weapons being different. What I found surprising is that in almost all cases there were much fewer carbinesthan long guns, and much fewer pistols than I had expected. Some units had none. The exception in reference to pistols is that it appears one regiment in each division had far more than the others. For example, the 8th Texas Cavalry in Wheeler's command had 1.65 pistols per man, which was much higher than the others in their division. Argueably, the 8th Texas was possibly the hardest fighting unit in Wheeler's command. I still find it hard to believe that every trooper wouldn't acquire a pistol through capture or battlefield pick-up. I get the impression that the ordnance reports reflect what they were carrying, whether personal or issued, but maybe not. Some are carrying wierd weapons that I wouldn't suspect would have been isuued, such as .37 caliber and flintlocks in a few cases.
