The Arkansas in the Civil War Message Board

Re: John H. Parker, Dawson's 19th

My Parker was John H. Parker, not L.B. Parker.

Levi Bailey Davis married the widow of John H. Parker. You are correct that the Measles, Pneumonia and fevers were rampant during the civil war, and caused the demise of many soldiers. Many were placed in a mass graves due to the hot inclement weather. John Parker died, per the estate papers filed by his widow, in Pine Bluff, AR on 8/28/1862. It is possible the family claimed the body and buried him on the Parker homeplace in Dierks, AR.

Levi B. Davis was a Private, enlisted 2/10/1862 Company “C”, 19th Dawson’s AR Infantry Regiment; Captain J. W. Watson’s Company, Confederate Army; discharged 5/2/1862.

I appreciate your assistance!
