Re: John H. Parker, Dawson's 19th

Bryan, is there anything else on my John H. Parker? Where can I look for more information? There doesn't seem to be a widow's pension or application - how were deaths reported to the family? Perhaps the Nashville Newspaper would have posted something on his death? The widow married again in 1868, 6 years after John's death. Was there any type of pension granted to Confederate widows? It is very strange that nothing has been said about John after his death. I'm sure that there was something, but I don't know where to look. I believe that the property that John owned before the war (40 acres) was forfeited, which suggest that his widow walked away from it.
