The Arkansas in the Civil War Message Board

Re: John H. Parker, Dawson's 19th

Forgive me. In trying to piece together the history of the 19th and 24th Arkansas at Camp Sulphur Springs I have seen more records that I can keep up with. One of those records was of a man that had died at Pine Bluff/Sulphur Springs during the same time period. The information had come from a widows pension application in which two witness had given testimony about the death and burial, but the man had no muster roll record. The application had been denied because the widow had remarried after the war. This seemed to fit your situation. but I could not find the information in my paper files nor could I remember the names.

Your story is common at Sulphur Springs. And I was wondering if your were this same person that I had recieved that information from several years ago. Obviously you are not. Anyway I am sorry not to be of more help.
