Re: John H. Parker, Dawson's 19th

Doyle, the L. B. Parker who served in the 24th Arkansas doesn't have any connection with Joyce's L. B. Parker or John H. Parker. His name was Larkin Berry Parker, of Drew County. He enlisted in Co. E, 24th Arkansas Infantry, at Monticello, Arkansas, on June 16, 1862, for three years or the war. He was captured at Arkansas Post on January 11, 1863; sent to Gratiot Street Prison, St. Louis, Missouri, on January 22, 1863; transferred to Camp Douglas, Chicago, Illinois, on February 8, 1863; forwarded to Aiken’s Landing, Virginia, for exchange, on April 3, 1863; and exchanged at City Point, Virginia, on April 10, 1863. He was granted sick furlough and returned to Arkansas, where he joined Co. E, Hardy’s Regiment, on August 1, 1863. On the last known muster roll of Hardy's regiment, for the period ended February 24, 1864, he was absent without leave. He was born c1830 in North Carolina, and lived in Cleveland County after the war.
