Jim, If you can wait until April 7th I'll be at the Georgia Archives and can attempt to find him there or at the NARA branch. At present it's merely a guess but there was a James Roland from Troup County Georgia which is NOT too far from La Grange Georgia. That particular man was born in 1848 and enlisted in the 5th Georgia Reserves Company I. If this is the soldier than he did survive the War. Both the time line and location look promising but having said that it's still a shot in the dark until more research can be done. Thx Dennis
