Thanks for the reply, I'm trying to collect this info for a client of the Military Records Research Service, that helps support these message boards.

This man was definitely from La Grange in Troup County. I've also found a Georgia Confederate pension application for a J. W. A. Rowland who claimed service in the 37th Battalion Georgia Militia and then for the last 5 to 6 weeks of the war, he was in Ferrell's Battery of Georgia Artillery. He doesn't mention service in the 5th Georgia Reserves, but it's definitely a possibility.
