For anyone researching the 56th Ga Infantry I know of an interesting book. I am currently reading it and am only about 1/3 into it. It is primarily about the 57th Ga inf. but the 56th had the same assignments as far as I have read. It is a mixture of letters to and from home and military documents and records, etc.

The book is "Hells Broke Loose in Ga" by Scott Walker, UGA Press
