Currently the only way to get a copy is to send me your address to my home e-mail and I will mail you a CD copy of it. I have never taken the time or effort to have it published. There were several reasons, first once I had completed it, I sort of lost interest in having it published when I found how much work it would involve.
Second this way I thought I could include many photos, I put a tour of the Cabin Creek battle field in the back of the book in photos.
I will send you when I get home all the information I have on Sylvanus Howell. Interestingly enough I wasn't able to get much on him. I found a letter that is supposed to be from him in the Gilcrease Library, but I also have information that he could neither read or write, yet he was listed as an attonery at law. After the war he winds up in Obion County Tenn on the 1870 census, and that is where I have lose track. I found a grave marker in Eastern Tenn, on a prairie all by itself with his name on it but with a different birth date.
It is interesting that many members of the battery came to Texas within 5 years of each other, and from the same area of Tenn.
Thanks for the offer to send any information about Howell or others in the battery, I already have a complete list of which members of the battery served in state malitia's, however I have never been able to find out much about the history of those militias. Would like to see any information you might have on that. I will let you know more later. If you send your mailing address to my provate e-mail, I will send you a copy of the book.
