Ken--From the description you sent we are talking about the same battle. Fortunately I have a printout of the Buck letters since I can't locate the text file. If I can figure out how to scan and send the printout I will, but it will be a few days before I can do that.

My collection of Giddings J. Buck CSA letters (and other items) is going to auction June 13 at Heritage Auction in Dallas. What I'm doing now is helping them write a description of the items. I ran across what appeared to be some conflicts in the info we have. I think they are cleared up now.

Buck was a highly educated man and left his position as Principal of Salado College to join the CSA, or the Texas State Troops. He refused promotions and remained a private to the end. This series of letters is very well written. After the war, he entered the law practice in Waco, TX and thereafter moved to Laredo, TX and started a newspaper.
