With a restriction to the trans Mississippi theater would exclude some of the fierce partisan and guerrilla fighting in the east. Men like Morgan and Moseby would be left out. Also, with this restriction the fierce Ky-Tenn. border fight that Quantril joined just prior to his death would be missed. With in that area is also the very interesting Champ Ferguson/ Tinker Dave Beatty fighting; and within this can be examined the way the Ferguson brothers became guerrillas on opposite sides, both to die because of the war. So, to restrict the discussion to a particular area of the war would take away part of the total picture and mar the understanding of the American Guerrilla figher.
