Sir, I think you're probably right in terms of sheer boothilledness. I think with a few exceptions the reputations of the tough cowtowns and mining camps probably pailed in comparison. But places like El Paso were still pretty tough into the first decade of the 20th century. Must of been a lot of transplants from Appalachian NC in town...lol
