The Missouri in the Civil War Message Board

Re: Col. Thomas R. Freeman/Campbell

This was sent to me a few minutes ago. I hope someone will tell me this is a bad joke.

"Looks like the National Park Service plans to close the Civil War Museum and put most of the collection in long-term storage. It would be great if our fans could write their senators and representatives to encourage them to promote a permanent home for the collection. You can Google for the contact to your local reps. Here is a message you can send to help the cause:

I am concerned about the National Park Service plans to close the Civil War Museum at Wilson's Creek National Battlefield and to put most of the collection of rare artifacts in storage. The museum attracts thousands of visitors every year to Missouri from across the country and around the world. It contains the most outstanding and complete collection of Trans-Mississippi Civil War artifacts in the country. It seems a waste of taxpayer money to spend over $600,000 to put most of the collection in storage when this money could be put towards the construction of a fitting museum to permanently house this priceless collection. I encourage you to prevent the loss of this treasure especially during the 150th anniversary of the Civil War.
