So far I have no further information.
The article implies that these were separate incidents in Dallas County and I haven't really tried following leads to the other names, but that is an excellent thought.
I do know that Isaac MARTIN was dead by the 1870 census and his wife Mahulda and family devastated. The children were found separated by then and 'Huldie' has also not been found in 1870.

His father-in-law, William PENN of Dallas county 1860, did own a slave, Joseph Penn, who remained there after the war as a blacksmith.
And, a weak tradition has Isaac MARTIN's wife's brother, William PENN jr, (unmarried, the only son with 12 sisters), serving with the Union in Illinois.
So I can't tell now where Isaac MARTIN's sympathies layed, (laid, lied, lie, 'whose side he was on'!)
Most of the family supported the Confederacy.

Isaac B. MARTIN, born about 1821 in Tennessee, possibly Knox Co., son of Moses and Jenny (SUMTER) MARTIN.
There is an Isaac MARTIN in the CSA 3rd Regt, Missouri Infantry from nearby Springfield, but I don't know if that is him.

William PENN relocated from Dade Co. after receiving some land in Dallas Co. for War of 1812 service.
Huldie was one of the youngest daughters and apparently remained attached to her parents as most of the rest of the family stayed in Dade Co.
Huldie's sister Martha SPAIN had four sons with the 6th Regt Missouri Cavalry and sister Mary RENFRO had five sons in that same unit, including Thomas RENFRO who went south with Shelby at the end of the war. (see Sellmeyer)
